Refine Your Results

Manta.com users can search more than 13 million company profiles of businesses in the United States. Manta.com makes it easy to find companies according to location and industry. Now, you can refine the number of companies in a list by using these criteria:

  • Company Revenue
  • Number of Employees
  • Public or Private
  • Location Type

Whether you do a search on Manta.com or choose the U.S. browse option in the COMPANIES navigation, you’ll land on a page with the title: "U.S. Companies by Category & Location"

On the right side of the page, you'll see a "Refine Your Results" control box:




How to Use the Refine Company Lists Option

Click the [+] Expand link to expand the box.

Criteria:

Company Revenue: Narrow your list if you know the revenue category of the companies you’re searching for. You may choose more than one range. For example, if you’re looking for companies with revenue of more than $350K, choose the last three options.

Number of Employees: Use this option to look only for companies that fit your size criteria. You may choose more than one range.

Public or Private: Use this option to find just public or just private companies.

Location Type: This option lets you find headquarters or a branch near you. You may choose more than one option.

Please note that some company profiles do not include each criteria. Those companies will not be included in the refined lists.

Auto Apply

As you make your selections, the tool will automatically apply your new filters. This "Auto Apply" process takes about 3 seconds; then the page will reload.

You may make as many selections as you like. The 3-second timer restarts with every new selection. If the Auto Apply reloads the page before you have made all your selections, just make those selections after the reload. As you make more selections from the Refine Your Results control-box, the number of companies will be adjusted to match the criteria you selected.

If you decide to uncheck a selection, the Auto Apply will make that change as well.

Please Note: After you've refined your results and found the information you're looking for, the tool will keep your filters in place for every search or browse until you change or clear them using the Clear All Filters option.



Sort Your Results

Once a list contains less than 50,000 company profiles, you can use the Sort option to organize the list by revenue, number of employees and alphabetically in both directions.

You'll see this toolbar on all company list results, but it can only be used when a list contains 50,000 or fewer items. For example, the list below of companies in Pennsylvania has 551,510 entries, so the Sort option is not available.

If you attempt to use the sort option, you will see this message:

After you have refined the list to 50,000 or fewer, the Sort feature becomes active. In this example we narrowed the list to only companies is Pittsburgh (34,474).

Each time you choose a Sort option, the page will reload and the companies will be listed in the order you chose.
