Dr. Kamat received a combined bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree in Mumbai, India. He holds a master of public health degree in epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. While completing his degree, he conducted scientific research at the Department of Interventional Radiology and the Department of Gastroenterology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas. Following an internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y., Dr. Kamat completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at State University of New York in Buffalo.
