Based in Sanford, the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling operates as an information and referral service for people dealing with struggles related to problem gambling and gambling disorder. Founded in 1988, the not-for-profit organization received the National Volunteer of the Decade Award for 1990-2000, in addition to other accolades such as the 2002 Herman Goldman Award and multiple Distinguished Program Awards. The Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling (FCCG) has also established relationships with organizations providing similar educational and advocacy services at the national level, for which it has been awarded the 2013 Monsignor Joseph Dunne Award.
The FCCG has expanded operations over the years to feature a number of communication platforms individuals and families can use to receive support. All methods of contact for the FCCG HelpLine, which range from the 888-ADMIT-IT Confidential and Multilingual Problem Gambling telephone number, the 321-978-0555 text line, live chat on the gamblinghelp.org website, to email-based help, are available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This has allowed the HelpLine to become the state’s designated crisis service for problem gambling. The non-profit has also launched the 888-ADMIT-IT App for easy access to its HelpLine, website, and a free self-assessment tool.
