I feel it is necessary to share my deeply concerning experience with Creative Websmiths, the company I hired for a website plugin configuration project. The unprofessional behavior and poor service I encountered throughout my engagement with them is very alarming.
From the very beginning, I was met with high-pressure sales tactics that immediately raised red flags about their approach to customer interactions. Despite my reservations, I decided to proceed, based on a hastily written scope of the project conveyed over the phone by a very persistent salesperson. I know, this was undoubtedly my mistake.
The lack of clarity regarding the assigned project manager was a recurring issue during the project. Initially, I was introduced to Shawn as my project manager, but then Fred called, claiming the same role. The confusion continued when Shawn later asserted himself as my actual project manager, while Fred remained involved in the project. This organizational chaos and inconsistent communication added immense frustration to the overall experience.
Things took a turn for the worse when they attempted to upsell me with unnecessary and expensive solutions that had no relevance to my needs. The initial upsell cost was stated as a few hundred dollars, but that figure escalated to a staggering $2000 quote. Moreover, they cast doubt on the feasibility of the initial plugin they sold to me, which left me questioning the project's foundation.
As if that wasn't enough, Shawn, the project manager, became unresponsive and repeatedly failed to address my inquiries, despite my multiple attempts to get in touch with him.
Upon expressing my concerns and contemplating a refund due to these glaring issues, Fred offered to discuss a new project scope with me. Unfortunately, both Fred and Shawn failed to follow through with our agreed-upon call, leaving me feeling helpless and disregarded.
I decided to go ahead and request a refund. I messaged live chat to initiate the refund request. The agent said Fred would be calling me to discuss the refund, to which I said no.
So, instead, I was transferred to Rodney, who was allegedly responsible for handling refund matters. I had to retell the entire situation, only to discover that he lacked the authority to authorize the refund. My request to speak to someone who could help resulted in being transferred back to Fred, who had already harassed me with back-to-back calls despite my clear request for him to stop.
Fred eventually transferred me to the refund department and told me there is no way I would be getting a refund. The refund department agreed to process the refund and would let me know the next steps. In the meantime, Fred called me AGAIN. I told him to stop calling me because I was going through with the refund.
He laughed and said I wouldn't be getting the refund.
When the refund department got back to me to issue the refund, they requested it be in monthly installments. It seemed to be due to a funding issue. This was absolutely not acceptable to me.
When they did not respond to me with my counteroffer, I filed a dispute with my credit card company to seek a resolution.
After filing the complaint, Creative Websmiths harassed me again with relentless back-to-back calls and texts (7 in 23 minutes), which was an intrusive and unprofessional response to my decision to dispute the charges.
Then they threatened LEGAL action against me for filing a dispute with my credit card company. Why I was shocked they stooped to this I don't know.
My experience with Creative Websmiths has been utterly disappointing and distressing. I sincerely hope that Creative Websmiths takes these criticisms seriously and works towards improving their practices and interactions with customers in the future.
