Dr. Katherine Swing was born in Naples, Florida and attended Stetson University in DeLand, FL where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude. She then received her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. During medical school, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society and was awarded the Tampa General Hospital Medical Staff and Clinical Scholar's Award. She completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, serving as Chief Resident in her final year of training. Upon graduation, Dr. Swing practiced at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as a clinical instructor, teaching residents and medical students surgical skills as well as giving numerous didactic lectures. She was in private practice for 12 years before practicing at Ochsner Health from 2016 to 2022
