I grew up in the small village of Wellsville in western New York. As a young child I spent a lot of my time on my grandparents’ farm.

It was at the farm where my passion for animals was born, especially horses. Another love was born at a very early age. I wanted to learn to read at age four. When my mother gave me the book “The Black Stallion” by Walter Farley, I was hooked on reading forever. Reading every horse book in the library had transported me to strange, mysterious places with fabulous horses.
