Eli, who is the owner of the company gave us a bid and contract for a painting and staining job. The job also included repairing grout in our fireplace. We were finishing up last items on the last day of work. Among these items was painting a 20 ft wall (referred to as fireplace wall corner to corner in contract). The wall was painted without painting around the frames and there was a clear difference between the new paint and the old paint around the frame. Eli came by on the last day which was a Friday to collect final payment while his guy was repairing the non painted areas by "feathering" the non painted edges with the rest of the paint. The job was in process and not complete. He convinced me to go ahead and pay him in full and I can withhold $100. He promised that if the "feathering" did not look right that he would bring back a guy on Monday and they would finish the job even if it required re-rolling the entire wall. Also because his men did not use a scaffold and used a tall ladder, there are new nail pop areas that need repairs. He promised me this. Monday came by and he did not return or answer any phone calls. At some point that same week he said next Monday. That next Monday came and again he did not call or answer phone calls.
