Somehow, the replacement key I’d got managed to break in about two weeks. The worst part was that it just didn’t break at some random place, it broke inside the lock. Within minutes, there was a locksmith at my doorstep. David was careful not to damage the lock while he extracted the broken pieces. He took one look at it and asked me if I’d got it made at a hardware shop. I did, yes, but how did he know that? Apparently, such stores use low-grade material and improper techniques to cut keys, hence, the absurdly short life. David got a new key made right there and I could definitely make out the difference in terms of quality. To my surprise, all this cost me less than what I’d paid at the store….
