Beware! We signed a contract with United World Wide Moving to move us from AZ to VA at an estimate of $2979.20. Was told I would be contacted 3-5 days prior to scheduled March 22nd or 23rd pick-up to make any adjustments to the inventory. I was called on March 20th...estimate now $6827.27. Would have cancelled then but our home had sold and we did not have the required 72 hours. I received a call from a man that said he was with the moving company and would it be possible to pick up on March 21st which we agreed to. 2 young men showed up with a U-haul, shrink wrap and tape. They had just got off a plane! I would never have allowed them to come to our home if I had known this with the corona virus going around. I was told their truck was to big so they were going to load everything and take the U-haul to the “truck stop” which he corrected and said back to the U-haul rental place and the movers would unload the U-haul and put the TV’s, mattress and box springs in boxes and make sure everything was made ready for the move which was not done. Everything arrived in VA exactly as it when on that U-haul. AFTER everything was on the truck I was told we were over the estimate and owed ANOTHER $1988 but he texted his boss who said since we were such GOOD customers he would give us a $500 discount. I was called on April 9th to set up delivery and was told the driver checked every possible way to try and get in and said he could not get his 80’ truck down my daughters street so I would owe another $1100 for the “shuttle”. I sent pictures of street which comes off of a 4 lane highway but was told the driver would get stuck because of a low hanging wire...this wire is across my daughters SHORT driveway...not the street. If this was the case why did the driver call me on the day of delivery to tell me his GPS could not find my daughter’s street of East Well Street. I informed him it was Ewell Street which assured me he had NEVER checked to see if he could get his truck in. I was being charged for a post contract request by this company which was much higher than the one I agreed to with United. When the driver showed up he was in 26’ Budget rental truck which wasn’t half full and he had another delivery behind ours. He told my daughter he worked for United World Wide Moving...NOT Nabout Family. I should have been charged for the shuttle under the United contract since they were responsible for the delivery! He said United had rented the truck and while he was sleeping “someone” unloaded his truck and but all our goods on the Budget truck. My daughter asked that he show her the exact cubic feet that was on that truck but he told her the truck didn’t have that on the inside walls. When he opened the back of the Budget truck he said the strap had broken and of course there was damage to our property and he only had 1 page of the inventory. This was a nightmare.
