Warning: Indulge Pet Resort refused to inform dog owners that a dog with a contagious virus may have interacted with their dog or contaminated toys/water dishes during daycare over several weeks in Aug 2020.
A papilloma virus growth (http://www.pethealthnetwork.com/dog-health/dog-diseases-conditions-a-z/oral-papilloma-virus-dogs) was discovered on our dog's mouth when she went in for a recent rabies update. Our vet explained that as long as any growths are visible, it is highly contagious to dogs via direct contact, toys, water bowls, etc. I informed Indulge promptly, as any responsible dog owner should, that our dog that had attended daycare several times a week was diagnosed with papilloma virus and that it's potentially unserious but very contagious.
We were saddened and disappointed to learn that the Indulge policy is to NOT alert dog owners of a contagious dog that attended daycare in their facility to allow them the opportunity to inspect their dogs for possible signs of the virus. Indulge's lack of transparency calls into question their integrity to ensure all dogs in their care are healthy and safe.
Our vet's office was so shocked at Indulge's policy, that they intend to have their medical director speak with Indulge's medical director. I don't know when or even if that occured. However, if they're not letting others know about our contagious dog, then I can't imagine what I'm not being told about others. And that's not a risk I'm willing to take when it comes to the health of my dog.
I sincerely hope Indulge changes their policy to be responsible and transparent by informing owners regarding all contagions dogs have potentially come into contact with while in their care.
