I am Stephen McKelvie, owner and operator of Rail Holidays Australia. A little of my history and experience. I have been managing a Domestic Travel Agency for the NSW Rail since 1990. I commenced the very successful Escorted Rail Based tours for them in 2000 with approximately 6 tours a year. When NSW Railways recently went through a major restructure and decided they would no longer continue with their guided tours, the popularity of these tours encouraged me to set up my own business, Rail Holidays Australia.I have travelled Australia extensively with group tours from the major tourist locations, to remote Outback Australia. Travelling extensively on the major rail journeys in Australia including: The Indian Pacific, The Ghan, Spirit of the Outback and other Queensland Rail Services. Hence, I have a comprehensive knowledge of the NSW Rail system and a wide network of contacts with local identities to draw on their unique local experiences.
