I don't usually write reviews but was so disappointed with Alex and his company I feel I should warn anyone considering working with ECOEFFECT. We hired him to work on my mothers house after the flood happened in June of 2019 in Mercedes. If you do choose to work with Alex and ECOEFFECT, under no circumstance should you release money before the work is complete other than the required amount due at signing. Follow the contractual agreement even though I am sure Alex will pressure you for money before the work is complete. Our agreement specified 1/2 at the signing of contract and balance at the end. This was broken after 2 weeks when Alex asked for half of the remaining balance and assured me I would not have to pay him until the work was finished. 2 weeks after that he asked for an additional $5000 and promised a certain amount of work to be done using that money. Again he promised this would be the last advance until the house was complete. It just so happened that after I released that money to him I went on a week vacation. I returned from my vacation expecting the work he promised me to be done. I get back and everything is exactly the same as it was before I left on vacation. At this point I was furious and started putting pressure on him. Calling him daily, asking for updates, etc. Every time we spoke he sounded annoyed. It got to the point where I a was babying him. He continued asking for money but by this point I refused to give him anymore until the work was complete. He released my personal phone number to his subcontractor and the subcontractor then started calling me asking for money. He claimed Alex had not paid him and Alex passed on the blame to me. So we were at a stalemate for a while. Subcontractor wouldn't work because Alex owned him money and Alex wouldn't pay him because I owned him money which was not due until the house was complete. At the every end, I made an agreement with Alex that I would pay the subcontractor directly and I would deduct that amount from the amount I owed ECOEFFECT. Alex was not too happy about this but agreed nonetheless. I did this to make sure the money I was giving Alex would be used on my house and not to fund his other projects like it seemed he had been doing. So the house was finally completed but it was me and his subcontractor who finished the project. Alex at this point had completely abandoned the project and left all discussion to me and the subcontractor. Alex didn't even show to sign off on the project and just emailed the invoice to me. He never returned the key to the house later his subcontractor informed me it was lost. So I had to replace all the locks on the doors. Work at the end was rushed but my mom needed her house so I will have to hire someone else to touch up on a few things. At the start of things, Alex came off as a professional contractor. He dressed and talked the part and said everything we wanted to hear. But things quickly change once I started calling him out on his bluffs. What should have been a 4 week project took close to 4 months. Do yourselves a favor.......KEEP LOOKING!!!!!!
Update: Another one of his contractors has been calling me threatening to put a lien on my mothers house because Alex has yet to pay him.
