Disclaimer: The following feedback I have refrained from giving for 4 months in hope that this wreck of a parking pad would be fixed and I could then give a decent review....it's not. I would rate my service a 0 but that is not an option.
Mr Oswald came and did an estimate. One of 3 people. Actually more expensive estimate than the others however he took the time to answer my questions and I liked that. I gave his company the project. I'm a disabled single mother of 3 girls,4,7,and 18. I recently came home from the hospital and rehabilitation from an auto immune disorder which caused me to lose all muscle function in my body. I use a walker when things are bad and wanted a 30×30 parking pad built along with a 3ft sidewalk extension. All this to accommodate my walker so I could quit parking in the grass in front of my house.
Agreed workday: They were hours late. Began digging up parking pad area and cut the cable. No big deal I called the cable company for them to replace the line.
The concrete came late. On top of that the company kept sending the same driver instead of sending multiple drivers so the pouring had large lulls in the work. It was late at night before the concrete was all poured- I was sitting outside in my daughter's Jeep with the high beams shining over the work are until it was time to put the youngest to bed and I had to send my daughter out to provide additional lighting so the crew could see what they were doing. At the end of the job Mr Oswald reduced his quote price and said he'd only charge "x" amount. Ok. My request during the initial meeting was for a finish that matched the existing concrete sidewalk. What I received was a brushed top full of textures that is in contrast to the original sidewalk. First impression of the finished product was it wasn't even and the board used to create the border wasn't straight. You could visibly see where there were waves for lack of a better description in the parking pad. Ok. I'm a female maybe I don't know what I'm looking at. Then it rained. Water held in all 9 of the sections of the concrete. Hmm. Not good. The connecting area of driveway to the pad is not level and possibly causing damage to the vehicles. Hmm not good. I contacted Mr. Oswald and explained the problem. He said he'd come look at it during the next rain. Next rain, no Mr. Oswald. I took pictures. Mr. Oswald requests a review. I kindly decline with the explanation that if I give a review at this time it would be negative and I realized this is his livelihood. I didn't want to do that. Mr. Oswald contacted me and asked why I didn't continue to call and complain about the problem?. Well, I have 3 kids. Didn't realize I was buying another I'd have to nag to get work done. Mr Oswald comes during rain and quickly realizes there's a problem. In connecting the sidewalk to the parking pad they have cut of the waters drainage path. "I'm sorry, we should have checked the drainage path. We forgot." Ummm really?! "What we can do is patch these main areas on the pad that's holding water, make a new drainage path for the water to follow so it won't pool, and add rocks to level out the area from the driveway to the car pad." Great! This is fixable. So about a month later there's a request for a review which I once again politely refuse to do. Mr. Oswald calls and sets a date to make repairs. They no show. It rains again and I take some REALLY good pics with my new camera and send them to Mr Oswald. He contacts me and apologizes for no showing. It would seem his business is booming which is great! Just gonna need you to fix this car pad. Mr Oswald and crew show up maybe 2 weeks later and begin applying patches to my new concrete pad. Did I mention the patches are not the same color as the original concrete? They then dig a trench across my front yard to divert the water. Hmmm. I'm getting upset, time to remove myself from the vicinity before I run away from my Jesus momentarily. I go inside and begin a photoshoot with my daughters. Mr Oswald comes to the door. My oldest answers and Mr. Oswald wants me to sqare up with the remaining money owed. ??? My response? I will not be paying any money until I know the job is taken care of. Shortly thereafter,it rained. Now I have water pooling in the parking pad (post patches) water holding in the trenches dug to divert the water. Water still overflowing at the connecting area of car pad and sidewalk. I of course capture all of this on my new camera and immediately send to Mr. Oswald along with this message, "Good morning. I feel like the attached photos are really good and you can plainly see there is a problem. Trench created a bigger problem. Now I have water in my driveway. In my walkway. Pooled onto of the patches. And in the trench. This is not conducive to assisting my physical impairments nor keeping mud out of my house which then is also not conducive to my physical impairments." His reply:
"We will overlay the driveway to get the birdbaths out and drain away from the house and a French drain system underground to keep water from standing at sidewalk."
Then I received a request for a review. Couldn't tell you how I feel about the last repairs, because they haven't happened. I forsee contact with BBB in the very near future. End of review. DLM
