We ran a load for them and have been trying to chase down payment from them for over 90days now. No one responds to email or answer the phone. AVOID AT ALL COST

PLEASE DO NOT work for this company. The company handled my shipping logistics and had me pay $200. They just informed a 40ft container arriving in just 1.5 days. When a 40ft feet container is arriving clear communication need to be made exact date and time container is arriving (not an estimated date as we need to find right resources to unload it. The company didn't help with neither providing resources nor gave enough time to find resources to unload resources. I was helpless trying to find resources last minute and had sleepless nights thinking about how to unload it. The company doesn't admit its mistake from their side and says to pay $200. DONOT WORK FOR this company where lack of communication leaves a customer in a difficult situation.

This is in response to Erin Mcabes review. Its sad to see such a review especially when you have gone out of your way to help someone. Erin imported a container on CY/CY basis and did not arrange for Customs Clearance or Transportation. She did not pay the pending charges as per Arrival Notice and after several reminders paid on the LFD and expected that the cntr would be released immediately which was not possible as it was already end of the day. Now once the demurrage charges were informed Erin stated that she did not know anything about imports and she had no one to take care of the Customs Clearance and Transportation. Although SMIL was not obligated to do this they helped her get the shipment cleared and arranged for transportation. this is when she started disputing the demurrage which had incurred. SMIL hence returned the amount charged for Transportation back to Erin. She Confirmed she will take care of the cntr pick up. Her Colleague Sarah Hudson who was actually incharge of imports was on leave, returned only to understand what chaos Erin had cooked up. However she too was blown away by Erin and asked not to involve in this case. After a lot of follow up finally Erin picked up the cntr. Till date she has not paid the Duty she owes to CBP, for which we have sent the case to Collections.
Beware before you help someone in distress. That's the lesson we got!

The worst experience I have ever had with a company in any industry. Claimed I didn't pay by the deadline when I did. The money came out of my account by the deadline but they claim their bank didn't receive payment until several days later. Charged me demurrage fees of $400 per day and didn't even inform me of this until two days after the last free day after I paid the balance on time. I had to pay $6400 in demurrage fees because SmartMode failed to disclose terms when they first contacted me. And some days they didn't even respond to emails which cost ME another $400. How convenient! I don't know how these guys sleep at night. They prey on small businesses. I even told them from the beginning that this was my first time moving a container from the port to my warehouse and I needed some guidance and explanations. I had arrangements to be delivered to my door but the freight forwarder didn't follow through and left me with SmartMode. What a horrible person the owner must be to take advantage of the current situation and charge ridiculous storage amounts that aren't disclosed in the first place. This company is full of guys who are all on pathetic power trips and who love demeaning clients. I am beginning to take legal action as we speak. I will not let this pathetic excuse for a company take advantage of me or other small business owners.
