The dog of our heart, Pepper, died in February. We knew we wanted another dog and adopted Annie in May. Shortly after we adopted her, we couldn’t imagine that our rescue dog would ever be well behaved and obedient. She didn’t listen, she jumped on people, she was aggressive, and the list goes on. We didn’t know what to do and felt hopeless. When Annie came to us, we were her fourth home. As hopeless as we felt, we just couldn’t give up on her. Luckily, Terra of Animal Minds was recommended to us by our dog groomer. Looking back, I’m sure that when I called and explained to Terra our hopes and concerns for Annie, it was all things she was very capable of handling. Terra came to our home and evaluated Annie. We were impressed with her skills at that very first meeting. She displayed a keen passion for dogs. After spending quite a bit of time with Annie, Terra recommended a month of board and train. When she told us that, I cried. I feared I would not know Annie once she returned home. Of course, that was not the case. During the board and train period, we spent time with Annie alone and with Terra for training sessions at least a few times a week. Terra also supplied us with numerous videos highlighting Annie’s progress. As we are older, Terra was patient, very respectful, and helpful in regards to our concerns. In other words, she was a good fit for us. She cared about us as Annie’s parents and definitely cared about Annie. A friend recently commented that Annie is delightful. For us, Animal Minds was effective. Terra was committed and trained Annie so we could enjoy having a dog to love once again.
