TLDR: Got an oil change, skid plate was not re-attached properly & had to be replaced. Valvoline corporate, and store management have given me the run around for 4 weeks, hung up on me, and will not reimburse me. I live very close to this Wheaton, Illinois Valvoline Instant Oil Change location, my 2019 car needed an oil change. Everything was smooth, employees were kind, helpful and courteous. I didn't drive my car for 2 days, and as soon as I hit a speed over 40 miles per hour I heard terrible scraping. I immediately went to my dealership and they confirmed that the skid plate was not attached properly in the front, and when I reached a certain level of air resistance, it was scraping the pavement. It needed to be replaced. I immediately reached out to Valvoline corporate and was called swiftly by Wheaton store manager Andrew. Andrew was extremely apologetic, told me he wished I came back to their location as they could get the parts cheaper; but would get me in touch with Area Manager Tim. I did not hear anything for 9 days, so I got back in touch with chat support and they said they'd follow up for me. I got a call back that afternoon from Wheaton store manager Andrew. He was upset, he believed that it was settled because I did not come back to him to fix the damage. I reminded him what he told me, and then he changed modes into doubting there even was damage, telling me he needed the physical skid plate (which was replaced) to pay for any damages. I offered him all of the documentation with itemized information and price and he declined me and insisted I bring him the skid plate (he knew I did not have this). While offering to provide the proof and contact information for the service manager that replaced the skid plate, Adam said "You know what..." and hung up on me. I immediately called corporate and they were extremely apologetic, promising me that they would make sure Area Manager Tim would follow up with me and then follow up with them. Another full week goes by and I didn't receive a call, contacted Valvoline support again and was told "We can't help you because it is a franchise, Tim is the ultimate authority and we will make sure he calls you". Here I am almost a week later and I've heard nothing. I don't write reviews, I don't intend for this to change my situation, I just want to warn other people in the Wheaton / Glen Ellyn, Illinois area to get your oil changed elsewhere. Mistakes happen, but these people will give you the run-around for a month, hang up on you, and never own up to their mistakes. Valvoline has no interest in what happens to their customers after they have their money.
