PREDATORY TOWING!!!! My 19 year old step-daughter was hit by a drunk driver on Saturday 3/6. This tow truck company and police were informed by her that we had private towing(AAA). This company proceeded to "hook up" her car and tried to charge her a $200 drop fee. She was there by herself and by the time I got there, they had already driven off with her car. When I called, I was hung up on multiple times by their reps who would only tell me it was going to their "yard". When I asked what the address was to where my vehicle was going, I was hung up on multiple times again. I finally forced my way to the owner after threatening to sue, she stated that the Independence Police Department is who called them. This has turned out to be false. I spoke with the police department today and they only contacted them to pick up the drunk person's vehicle, not ours, and had us listed as a "private Tow". This was confirmed today(3/8). Just so everyone reading this knows: IT IS ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO SHOW UP TO A SCENE WITHOUT BEING CALLED! "IF YOU DIDNT CALL THEM - DONT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR CAR! DONT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!
