I had an interview for a HR Manager vacancy at IKEA with Deotis Carolina, Recruiter in Perryville, MD. I have 20 years of HR experience working in a Union enviroment and was a member of two negotiation teams. I met all of the qualifications listed on the job posting. When I set up the interview with Mr Carolina, he asked if I knew where IKEA was located in Perryville. I told him I could use map quest but I would like directions to his office. He said he would send me an email to confirm the date and time and send directions. The day before my interview I received a call from Mr. Carolina asking me if I was still planning to come to the interview tomorrow (which I found strange). I told him yes and that I received his email with the date and time confirmation, however there were no directions included, Again, I told him that wasn't an issue. He stated he sent me directions and asked me to pull up his email and read what was typed under his name. I did so and repeated back to him that it simply said 100 IKEA Way with no directions. He bluntly said to me "I am cancelling our interview for tomorrow because this job requires someone who pays attention to detail". I was shocked & mortified that he would insult me in that manner. Please educate this individual regarding the difference between an ADDRESS and DIRECTIONS. I ended the conversation by stating I was no longer interested in the position. Now I know why this is a Union environment.
