Horrible! DO NOT hire this company. My house fire happened on the 19th of September 2019. Below is the email I sent to a manager for my insurance company. As mentioned, the house fire was deemed a total loss by the insurance adjuster and the insurance company. I will also mention that a woman who works for Cordon Bleu commented on how thorough the document I mention below was and that she had never seen one so complete. I created this document using Excel, complete with formulas in an attempt to make this easier for everyone.
I am paraphrasing her comment.
Good day, Mr. Manager, I would like to express my absolute and extreme disappointment with my experience with "name" and his company Cordon Bleu. I have never witnessed such an unorganized, unprofessional approach to conducting business. I find his lack of knowledge of my policy baffling. The house was deemed a complete loss. After the house fire, I was left with one pair of shorts and a t-shirt; nothing more! Yet, he asked for receipts, serial numbers, and the like. Ridiculous. I submitted a detailed and comprehensive list of my losses due to a house fire at least twice. I submitted this through a spreadsheet in November complete with a description of property, type, room the item was located in, year acquired, quantity, cost of each item, a cumulative cost (if there was more than one of the particular item), tax (if applicable) total cost, depreciation (at 25 percent), condition, ACV value, notes, and link to the item or similar. I again sent an amended spreadsheet to him in December including a few items I missed. But this was not enough for him. More than a few times he asked for additional information that was already provided. I could go on and on with other issues, but I doubt it will yield any positive results. I find it unreasonable to have to pay for his services out of my contents insurance. He provided zero value to me as a consumer/customer and was clearly out for his own gain; not yours or mine. I did end up hiring an attorney to help me through this process. My only regret is I did not hire him sooner. Repeatedly, over and over I tried to work with him. I plan on contacting the Minnesota Insurance Commission through the Minnesota Commerce Department and file a complaint to get my experience on record. No one should have to go through the distress and expense (his compensation and attorney fees) as I did. I feel sorry for anyone that experiences a loss such as mine and has to work with "name" and Cordon Bleu. Repeatedly I heard of his 52 years of experience in the field and grew very tired of his narcissistic personality and bullying. I am very appreciative of my agent for stepping in and straightening this claim out in a very short time.
One of the problems here is that "name" was trying to convince me that insurance payout for personal property would be in the form of gift cards. This went so far as him sending me a form that I was to sign off on which listed the gift cards I was to accept...but with no monetary amounts listed. Who does this?
Once my attorney got involved, the insurance company relieved him and his company of handling my claim for personal property almost immediately and my claim was settled in a matter of days.
My intention is to file a complaint in order to recover the expense of attorney fees. No one should have to experience such unprofessional, mis-management of an insurance claim.
