Avoid Riverdale Nursing Home at All Costs The care and conditions at Riverdale Nursing Home are beyond unacceptable. Entrusting my husband to this facility has been one of the greatest regrets of my life. Substandard Care: Personal hygiene is neglected, records of medications and care are riddled with inaccuracies, and requests for involvement in care planning are ignored. My husband cannot advocate for himself, and despite my repeated efforts to speak on his behalf, my concerns have been dismissed or met with resistance. This neglect feels like outright discrimination against those who cannot speak for themselves. Horrific Facility Conditions: The state of the facility is appalling. Peeling paint, visible mold, and the overwhelming smell of feces and urine permeate the rooms and halls. These are not just unpleasant conditions-they're health hazards. Unprofessional Staff: When I raised concerns about my husband's personal belongings being removed without warning, the head of maintenance, Fritz, was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. He used the word "confiscate" when referring to my husband's Keurig and UL-certified Christmas lights, adding to my husband's feeling of being incarcerated rather than cared for. No valid policies or regulations were cited, only vague mentions of "state violations" that were completely inaccurate. Violation of Smoking Regulations: Residents were seen smoking directly outside the entrance, under a "No Smoking" sign. This is in blatant violation of New York State regulations, which prohibit smoking on healthcare facility grounds and require designated areas to be at least 30 feet from the building. For residents like my husband, who struggles with addiction, this disregard for rules creates an incredibly challenging and harmful environment. Neglect and Disrespect: The pervasive neglect and lack of professionalism at Riverdale Nursing Home are inexcusable. My husband and other residents deserve better. This facility fails on every level-care, cleanliness, respect, and safety. I am actively working to transfer my husband to a better facility, and I strongly urge anyone considering Riverdale Nursing Home to look elsewhere. This place is not safe, supportive, or fit for any loved one
