They are more concerned about $$$$ than your medical care. They won't send you to collections, they will take away your doctor. They literally withheld medical care from my husband at a critical time for a critical illness. I have been a patient with this clinic for a few years. Since joining I have had issues with insurance claims being filed properly, I have two insurances, one with a deductible, so it can get tricky. I try to stay on top of it. I have spend many hours getting the payment process fixed and have been successful except on two claims in particular. I repeatedly called as they continue to be processed incorrectly. All other family invoices have been paid in full but these two. It is important to note that each time you schedule an appointment or visit the office, you will be asked about your bills at the front desk and pressured to pay on the spot regardless of the status of your claim. It could be pending payment, they do not care, they will pressure you on every dollar, even the ones your insurance is responsible for, until they see a zero balance. That is how you are greeted there. BTW, the outstanding amounts we are talking about is less than $250, I have paid my co-pay on both claims, they also received 50% already. One claim in a year old, one just months. This week my husband had a serious infection that puts him in the ER if left untreated, as he gets this every few years. When I called, the office REFUSED to allow my husband to see a doctor until his medical bill was paid. I was appalled. When I talked to the office supervisor (Rachael), she yelled at me at one point and was fine with me going to urgent care as she would not let me see my own Primary Doctor. I then called my insurance, after an 2 hours on the phone, working with both insurance companies, needing to educate them on how this should be processed, we finally got to the bottom of the issue. BTW the acctg department at hedges has told me in the past it is not their job to help me with my insurance. I called the clinic back and explained how I spent 2 hrs on the phone, this is what needs to happen, it may take a bit due to mailing and faxing, but now all insurance companies are aligned. Still she REFUSED to allow us to make an appointment until an additional payment from me was received. When I called the Office Manager (Frank) the next day to share my story, he agreed that I should be refused doctor care also until payment was received, even after my good faith effort with insurance. If they really had such a concern, why did they not send me to collections? Instead they held medical care from my husband at a critical time for a critical illness.
