Today I went to the cemetery to place Easter crosses on the graves of my deceased family members and found a 1st notice WARNING placed in front of my parents gravestone. Apparently, my dad who is a WW2 veteran (Navy) had a Navy marker in front of the stone along with 2 angels, American Flag, and the ceramic words MOM. These items did not in any way interfere or clutter any area around the graves. They were patriotic, tasteful and memorable. However, I was warned that they had to be removed and if not the cemetery would dispose of these sentimental items themselves. I was appalled. And not being able to have a Navy marker is unpatriotic especially after he served in combat and cannot be remembered in the way our family wants. They should be more concerned with filling the potholes on the roads and filling the sinking grounds while walking to the graves so one doesn't fall into a small crevice. Some of the older graves are so dirty, how about cleaning the stones as a special project. Sadly, this place is becoming a potters field. And by the way, many other family graves received this notice as well. I am DISGUSTED.
