As a woman knowing little about cars, I needed to find a good mechanic I could trust. About 15 years ago, John Chilson was recommended to me, and I have not used anyone else since. Even though his location is a bit of a drive for me from my home in Horseheads and my office in Elmira, I always turn to John when I need car repairs, or if I need advice about purchasing a car. He's helped me many times by telling me not to invest any more money in a vehicle which was nearing the end of its usefulness. My family and I rarely buy a car without having John check it out first, and he has saved us from purchasing a couple of lemons. And his skill at diagnosing and repairing any make or model just astounds me. His fully-equipped garage is just 4 miles south of the DandyMart in Wellsburg, and he has just expanded & remodeled to include another (supersized) lift and the machinery to do alignments. Because John is just across the PA border, I have him do the work and then I take my vehicles to Paul Bennett's garage in Elmira for their NY inspections. Paul almost always gets me in with little or no waiting times, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. "No appointment needed...First come First serve" I recommend Paul Bennett too for inspections.
