I strongly recommend AGAINST hiring John Ambrose of Big Sandy Builders. We had an extremely strict 2 day window between our last booked Airbnb guest and appraisal (the work John was hired to do was part of a refinance). We hired John 3 weeks before the scheduled job because he assured us he could finish in that 2 day window, and made him very aware that there was no wiggle room in the timeline. I told him if there’s anything preventing the job from being finished on time to let me know. Well, he didn’t order the parts in time and asked to push out a week which was obviously not an option. When I said we can’t push the job out, he bailed on us (2 days before the scheduled job) leaving us in an extremely bad situation. And then he didn’t even apologize - he actually blamed me for not giving him a down payment in time! I had no idea he was waiting on me and as previously mentioned, told him to let me know if there was anything preventing him from completing the job on time, which he did not do. We bought our own supplies from Home Depot that evening (not sure why John didn’t think of this but he had already bailed on us by that time). We fortunately found someone else the day before. Long story short, do NOT hire John if you need someone reliable!
