Franziska Amacher redesigned our 150 year old urban house, turning it into a magical oasis in the middle of a bustling city environment. She opened up the tiny, cramped and dark rooms giving us a feel of spaciousness and light throughout our new home while managing to maintain some of the most charming aspects of the old home. It is a feast for the eyes and soul.

I have worked with Franziska Amacher for 17 years, from designing a co-housing community in Cambridge to building affordable housing and artist live/work units in Lynn. Lately, she helped us design a school-based garden on asphalt that has won numerous prizes and inspired hundreds of low-income, minority students to 'eat their vegetables' and look at science as a thrilling, hands-on experience. She combines the artist with the designer, the heart with the mind. She works well with all types of people and is very generous with her time.
