BEWARE of doing business with Sullivan’s Body Shop in Sand Springs. Those of you who know me know that I’m not a trouble maker and I would not publicize a complaint such as this if I wasn’t 100% sure that it needed to be shared. I’m 57yrs old and I’ve NEVER encountered such poor business practices and what appeared to be blatant dishonesty. I will try to make this as short as possible by highlighting only the most serious issues I was faced with. A little helpful information before I begin. Sullivan’s is no longer owned by the well-respected Sullivan family which I was not aware of. It is owned by Derrick Grigsby and Adam Grube. Adam and his wife Valencia are the onsite managers and therefore were the ones I dealt with.
I took my car to them with MINOR body damage. Below are the MAIN issues I had.
1) Was told it would take approximately a week to repair it. They had it a month giving me one excuse after another as to why (training new personnel and had to redo the paint job to name a few). I was having to pay for a rental which they showed no concern for and NEVER once apologized for having my car for an unreasonable amount of time. As I discovered from a post online, Adam & Valencia wanted to own a body shop so that they could do their own repairs on their racing vehicles. This left me to assume that most likely their racing vehicles were a priority over their customer’s vehicles.
2) Was told they could save me money by repairing a section vs replacing it. The final bill was $700 more than their estimate (which was in line with the estimates I had obtained to replace it) and they refused to give me an invoice detailing the costs until I paid them what they said I owed. And by the way, they didn’t even have a copy of their own estimate.
3) On two occasions I arrived to pay for my car and there was no one there that could process my debit card payment so I could get my car. The second time, the employees that were there said they didn’t even know where my keys were and didn’t know how to get ahold of anyone who knew. Both times I was told that the owners were out of town. I called the police but the police were unable to get in touch with either of the owners. While I was there with the police, another customer showed up and was livid because they had had her car for 2 months (both of us women by the way)
4) I found out by looking on line that Derrick Grigsby was the main owner (he also owns Clear Reflections Collision in Cleveland). I shared my experience with an individual who was also in the body shop business and knew Derrick. This individual contacted Derrick then called me back to let me know Derrick was going to call me to discuss what had happened. After a week of not hearing from Derrick, I sent him an email and did not get a response. I waited another week and texted him…..still no response. And yes, I confirmed that the email and phone number I had were valid. That is when I decided I needed to share this story in hopes of preventing someone else from being a victim of this poorly run business.
