LCCOA's goal is to provide nutritious meals, transportation, camaraderie, and activities to enhance the quality of life for those in our community. We strive to provide independence for senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and their families. Martin Luther King, Jr. LCCOA began in 1978 with twelve women from Lincoln County who decided to focus on addressing the needs of senior citizens. Originally the council was established to provide nutritional meals for those 60 years or older, their spouses, and disabled persons age 18-59. The Troy Center is the operations headquarters. Other offices include; Winfield in 1985, Elsberry in 1996, and Silex in 2002. Lunches are open to the public at the Troy Center and many of our services are available to all Lincoln County residents. LCCOA aims to help each consumer achieve; ~Adaptation: Ability to overcome physical limitations through assistive devices or behavioral assistance. ~Social Well Being: Positive relationships - not feeling like you are a burden & avoiding socializing. ~Psychological Well Being: Maintaining a positive attitude and the absence of depression or anxiety. ~Spiritual Well Being: A sense of inner peace and finding meaning in your daily activities.
