Bollinger graduated from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1982 with a professional degree in Architecture, where he earned a Citation for Excellence in 5th year Building Technology. Having served his apprenticeship while working for architect's in the 1980's, Bollinger began his own practice in 1990.
