Non-profit Organization to promote Democracy and Human Rights in Burma. Burma Point is a political organization established in 2005 to strengthen worldwide support of human rights and democracy movements of Burma through both non-governmental and governmental efforts. An independent, dedicated and enthusiastic group of overseas Burmese in New York currently governs Burma Point. With its independent fund-raising efforts, Burma Point helps pro-democracy activities through various Burmese democratic organizations. Principally, it supports the leading political party National League for Democracy (NLD), which won the 1990 general election overwhelmingly but which was never allowed to govern by the Burmese military regime.
