Pretty Disappointed. Mike from Close Up did our home inspection. He came recommended by our realtor. When I arrived at the inspection, he had been there for about 1-2 hours, accompanied by the seller's realtor. He gushed about what good condition the home was in, etc. etc. He showed me some insulation in the crawl space that was "falling down due to moisture" and offered recommendations on how to address that. Unfortunately, it seems he didn't actually CRAWL in the crawlspace, because when I did, I found a rotted sill and a wicked mouse infestation causing the insulation to fall away from the outer walls, not moisture! He missed the fact that some fairly obvious cracks had been recently patched and painted over (with glossier paint than the original), that one of the stoves not only didn't work but wasn't connected to a gas line at all, that there was a gas log fireplace out of code with no shutoff in the room, missed some loose and nonfunctioning electric outlets...the list goes on. I even asked about a place in the roof I could see daylight, and he waved it off. When it leaked a couple weeks later, I was the one who felt foolish. Would NOT recommend this guy. Just a generally shoddy job, didn't actually look in roofs or crawlspaces (used binos to "inspect" the roof).

I was thrilled with Mike's very detailed inspection of the home we bought in 2010. He walked us through every detail of the home and property and made all sorts of recommendations, from a major circuit breaker box upgrade to trimming bushes away from the home to preserve the hardboard siding. He produced an extremely in-depth report- no, BOOK- that ran down every major area of every room of the home and property. In fact, three years later, we are<a href="Javascript:void(0);" class="showMoreLink"> Show More</a><span class="hiddenText" style="display: none;"> selling the home and the buyers are so impressed with the report that they are not even ordering their own inspection. We are definitely using Mike on the home we currently have an offer on.</span>
