Local newspaper serving towns of Timpson and Tenaha in Shelby County and the town of Garrison in Nacogdoches County. The town of Timpson has been making history for over 125 years. To record this history, the town needed a newspaper. The Timpson Times (now Timpson & Tenaha News) was began as a weekly paper. The editors were J. H. Truit and J .M. Truit. The newspaper has served Shelby County and East Texas since 1885 under several different names and owners. It has a distribution of 2000 in Shelby, Nacogdoches, and Panola Counties with additional rack distribution of 500. Timpson is located centrally between the towns of Nacogdoches, Center, Henderson, and Carthage in East Texas. Timpson and Tenaha covers an area with a estimated population of 7,000. The current owner/editor-publisher is Hilda Pena. The Ad Manager is Rhonda Samford. Early and current editions of the Timpson newspapers are in the archives of the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society Library.
