Sauber Restoration and Construction Review We had hired Bob to perform work on our roof and siding from an insurance claim back in early March of 2022. The claim was due to a storm that happened in mid-February of that year. In the beginning he had informed us that he would work directly with our insurance on getting this paid out, going as far as saying that he would "beat up on them" to make sure they covered the cost of our entire siding. The only portion that I would be responsible for would be my insurance deductible. That seemed fair enough to me and I was happy to move forward with the work. Keep in mind, his contract does state that "the homeowner will not be responsible for an amount exceeding the deductible". On April 26th 2022, before our roof was replaced (Roof Replacement: June 7th 2022), Bob was informed by email and verbally that the insurance pay out of $10,709.55 plus my deductible of $2,960.00 ($13,669.55) was allocated to cover the cost to replace our roof and 1 portion of our siding. He was not in fact able to get our insurance company to cover the cost of the entire siding after 2 visits to our home along with the insurance adjuster, this I understand though. $9,559.04 was allocated to repair the roof, $4,110.51 was allocated to repair the 1 portion of siding. An additional amount of $1,515.87 would be paid by our insurance after completion of the 1 panel of siding. He was aware of these amounts before the roof was replaced. On 6/7/2022 a total of $12,361.79 was paid to Bob for both the roof and siding work. With the additional amount to be paid after completion of the siding, this was my understanding. An understanding that I came to after multiple calls with Bob. On Sept. 2nd, 2022 Bob claimed our insurance was holding an additional check to repair the siding, aside from the $1,515.87 of recoverable depreciation, which is untrue after checking with my insurance company twice. On Aug. 29th after repeated attempts to contact Bob and come to a resolution about our siding, he verbally removed himself from our claim and did not perform the work. Going so far during this phone call to tell me that he is, "Sick of dealing with my F'ing B.S." It is at this point that I asked for a refund of the $4,110.51 since the work has not been performed on the siding and this is when on Sept. 2nd of 2022, to told me that my insurance was holding an additional check to cover the siding cost, which is untrue. I then sent 3 demand letters to the addresses that I could find for him asking for a resolution before going to small claims court to attempt to recover the money. When that failed, I filed a small claims court case in Kane County, IL to try to come to a resolution. I even emailed him the demand letter as well. Unfortunately, after 2 attempts to serve him, the sheriff's office was not able to locate him, so I dropped the case. I had them serve him at his work address as well as what I could see to be an associated address for him Overall, his communication with both myself and my insurance was subpar. I had to contact him multiple times. But overall there are funds that were paid to him that were allocated by my insurance to go toward the cost of the 1 panel of siding and that panel has yet to be replaced and the work has not been performed and no refund or resolution has been discussed on his end. I have documentation for everything that has been mentioned but am unable to post it in this review.
