I'v made the vanilla butter nut cake several times with success. I do pre heat the oven, but I also have to give the cake an additional ten minutes or so bake time (even after confirming with a thermometer that the oven temp was correct). I have found that the fresher the eggs, beating the heck out of it (especially the butter/sugar phase) and adhering to the mixing/addition of ingredients as instructed, the better the cake! You can purchase the Superior Flavoring at www.shopbettys.com for $4.29 an 8oz. bottle

I have an old bottle of of the Imitation Vanilla Butter and Nut flavoring. I need to find where I can buy another bottle. This is a wonderful cake, but you have to start from a COLD oven for it to bake correctly. I live in Anchorage, Alaska and as far as I know no one in Anchorage carries this. I got my bottle from a friend who had some. Thank you, Anne Foley @ [email protected].
