We realized how frustrating and even maddening it was to see only bad things on the news night after night. We therefore recognized that it would be important to single out acts of tolerance by way of example. From its inception, The Greater Pottstown Foundation wrestled with the question of how to improve our community and promote tolerance and understanding in a meaningful way. We realized how frustrating and even maddening it was to see only bad things on the news night after night. We therefore recognized that it would be important to single out acts of tolerance by way of example. We felt that honoring the real American heroes of tolerance and understanding would do more and say more to our young than a lecture on the importance of tolerance. So we created our Honor Roll: teachers, techno-wizards, bakers and everyman who by example represent the finest expression of our American Creed. Example, however, by itself is insufficient to win the day; action is also required. We have focused our
