Part 3: Website isn’t letting me post more

Part 2: There I show Chris, the head maintenance guy, and some terrible women (I forget her name, this was 2.5 years ago literally a month after moving in) the video! well they’re in shock, but not the way I expected. Me and my bf were like, “you gotta fire these guys they’re admiring to not doing their job and telling me to put metal into outlets to do their job! Our lease even specifically prohibits tenants from doing maintenance work on the apartment!”
The woman in the office didn’t like that, and proceeded to say, and I’ll never forget this, “I can tell you’re going to be /those/ kinds of tenants. You need to find somewhere else to live.” Thats right ladies and gents, she tried to illegally evict me. I have PTDS and extreme anxiety, this caused me to have an anxiety attack in public which is both embarrassing and emotionally traumatizing. I KNEW that she couldn’t actually evict me but to be told one month into spending al your money to move in that they’re kicking you out!? Who WOULDN'T be panicking?
So after a short scene in the office I leave. Immediately call a lawyer friend and explain the story.

Part 1: Ive been living at Hadley Inc property, one of the barnett street property’s to be exact, and let me tell you about how horrible this place is. I’ve been waiting 2.5 years to write this review as I am FINALLY (yayy) moving out. This is gonna be a long one but If it stops just ONE person from ruining their life by renting from them, ill feel good.
First let me tell you about management/maintenance: when I first moved in on night one I went to change the old bulbs out. The bulb socket in the closet wasn’t re-attaches to the ceiling properly after they repainted, no big deal. BUT it fell out and the lose wires were not properly covered at the ends so they started sparking everywhere!!! AHHH I run to the kitchen to turn off the breaker (every switch was miss labeled so I had to turn them all off). I called the emergency line since it was 10:30pm to get maintenance out there since SPARKS were coming from my ceiling. He told me it was too far of a drive from Shelton and to just leave the electricity off. I was a new tenant and didn’t want to stir the pot so I was like are you sure you can’t? I mean I guess okay. And I had to find another place to stay that night that had electricity since he told me to just keep mine off. I wish I was joking. No I was never compensated for not being able to sleep in my own apartment the first day I moved in.
It gets better. So I moved in December 15th. One of the first issues I noticed after the wires incident was the ONE bathroom outlet had a prong stuck in it from the previous tenant. Also IT WAS NOT GFI idk how they were getting away with that but I digress. Since it was the holidays I waited to notify staff out of respect for family time/vacations. And sure it put me out that I couldn’t dry my hair or use an outlet in the bathroom, but I was being nice I though. Nobody wants to work during holidays. So around January 5th maintenance actually was on site I heard them in the courtyard, I asked them to swing by my apartment before they left which they did! Great, I though! They’ll help me out!! NOPEEEE. I’ll start by saying have a security camera in my apartment that recorded the entire following incident.
The two young men knock at my door and I welcome them in. I show them the outlet and explain the issue. This is what he said to me, I’m not making this sh*t up, “can you just turn the breaker off and put some tweezers in there?” Yes. He asked me to put tweezers on an outlet. At this moment I realize hmm, is this is same guy who told me he didn’t feel like driving out from Shelton when my wires were sparking? I casually proceeded to ask him about that and YEP he PROUDLY admitted and even laughed in my face saying he just didn’t feel like driving out to an emergency call. So I tell them goodbye and slam my door. Immediately download the security footage and bring to to the management office in downtown new haven.

My experience with Hadley was as a plumber/sewer and drain technician working directly with the on site maintainence workers primarily in West Haven in their many brownstone apartment buildings. I always was met by one of these employees on site to escort me into the unit or area of a building needing work and the buildings were very clean, well maintained and the men were very familiar with the properties they were in charge of.
