I have utilized Capps Home Building Center in Moneta, VA for numerous home repair and improvement projects for over thirteen years I have lived in the area. Unfortunately due to a recent situation I will be shopping elsewhere for my needs. We recently had an issue with my home and had my wife go to Capps in search for a product that I trust and have successfully used for years. Capps salesperson Judy intercepted my wife during her visit and sold her something different. In Judy’s own words she “highly recommended” the product, had “known several people” who had used it, and told my wife “it would solve our problem in fifteen minutes”. When I arrived home that evening it was too late to buy something else and we really needed to fix the issue and I was trusting of the recommendation. Using the recommended product caused damage so I went to Capps and reported the issue to Retail Manager Wayne Burnette who told me he would have to pass the issue on to the General Manager. The General Manager Bruce Shelton called me back a few days later, during our conversation he revealed that Judy the Salesperson, when made aware of our damage, suddenly got product amnesia, saying that she really knew nothing of the product in question despite the statements she made about it to my wife. It did not take me long in the conversation to figure out that Bruce was not going to accept any responsibility, even partial responsibility, for the damage caused by their product.
