I received a Gourmet Portabella Mushroom Growing Kit for my Christmas present from my wife. Because I was out of the country for two months I put it in the attic above the garage during the cold winter season. Upon returning I followed the instructions exactly except for growing it in the box it came from. I just transferred the growing material from the box it was sent in to a slightly larger box with a sealed liner and added 1 cup of water. I added 3.5 cups of water to the casing material and spread it over the top of the box. I next I covered the top with clear plastic and waited. I checked it every day, making sure it was moist. Nothing happened. The only thing I can think of that happened is that because the temperature went below freezing while I stored it in the attic. Could this be the reason I did not get results?
