The Chester Springs Studio is a vibrant arts center in Historic Yellow Springs. Founded in 1978 as an offshoot of Historic Yellow Springs, the Studio grew in reputation as a nationally-known home for the visual arts, particularly in the areas of painting and ceramics. In October 2007, the Studio formally became part of Historic Yellow Springs through an institutional merger. The merger unified the village of Yellow Springs and formed the basis for an innovative mix of arts, history, and interdisciplinary program experiences. Today, the Chester Springs Studio continues as an artistic epicenter in northern Chester County. The educational program offers classes and workshops in the Fine Arts, including beginning, still life, portrait and figure drawing, watercolor and oil painting, pastel and mixed media. Ceramic courses include professional techniques in both handbuilt and wheel thrown pottery, surface treatments, Cone 6 and 10 glazing and creating pottery for the wood burning kiln. Art courses are available for children, teens and adults.
