My wife is a resident of your nursing home in West Monroe LA. Ridgecrest. I help her with her meals, 3 meals a day 7 days a week. She eats regular food prepared in the home cafeteria. If I'm not there, the staff feeds her purée. I still work and hold full time employment. I eat breakfast before arriving each morning to assist her with her breakfast. I return to have lunch with her and then return to assist her with the evening meal. Until recently, I could purchase a guest lunch from Ridgecrest and eat the same exact thing she ate. Purchasing the guest lunch from Ridgecrest permitted me more time to be with her and it was a great accommodation as it saved me valuable time. Now allowing family members to purchase a guest meal and share some precious time with a family member has been discontinued. I view the elimination of this practice as "Ridgecrest Discourages Family To Visit Occupants In Ridgecrest". I always paid for my meals and to be honest about it, the food was amazingly good. The silverware was AWAYS clean. The cafeteria personnel was always courteous and friendly. A nursing home is a VERY LONELY PLACE. Why has RIdgecrest decided to discourage family visits. I only purchased the meals to be with my wife. Now I have to order a meal from somewhere else and spend valuable time to go pick it up. You yourself may very well wind up in a nursing home and be VERY LONELY. Raise the price charged for family guest meals. Just being cold hearted is not a good thing. G. Simmons
