I signed a contract with Atlantis Painting on August 17, 2012 to stain the exterior my house in Portsmouth. It is a 1400 square foot house and could have easily been done in a week. It is not October, 28, 2012 and the job is still not done and what is done, is done so poorly that I had to get another bid from another painter. The bid was $2800 and they kept asking for more money. I feel like I have been "scammed" because the two owners of the company, John Horton and Anthony Nunes are not responding to voice messages, fax's, emails or my complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I highly recommend you use a different company--this one has been a nightmare.

My Name is ****** **** and I am a Superintendent with a big name management company. Although our company is based out of Boston we manage buildings all over. Mine happens to be in *********** I had originally come on here to post a short very satisfied review for Atlantis but after reading the rantings of an unsatisfied customer I figured I would give a more in depth description of my experiences. A few months after taking over role of Super at my property I had become dissatisfied with the current painters doing our turnovers. After trying out three or four different painters I came across Atlantis. I found them on one of those websites that the contractor pays for leads. After my initial visit with ******* I knew right away that I was going to like them. Prices were put together and approved and they were hired on a trial basis, that was three years ago. Since then they have been doing all of our turnovers, they repainted our entire boiler room, they painted our new fitness center, all of or concrete retaining walls, but most recently they completed the painting of all of our newly installed sprinkler piping. This was a process in which everything had to be coordinated down to the most finite detail due to the fact that we had to enter 180 different residences. Not one resident or administrative complaint. In fact the work they have done here has put them in the lead for other projects through out my company as a whole. As you can probably tell by reading his complaint response, ******* is old school and has no idea how to communicate through typing. He would rather have face to face encounters or meetings so that by the time you both leave any issues or concerns have been ironed out. Which is what drove my write this review. After reading his response to the ranting lady I did feel I needed to stick up for him in a way. It is not that I do not believe what transpired actually happened, but I DO believe it had more to do with her than she lets on. The folks at Atlantis are not perfect, nobody is, but the communication has always been there and any time there is an issue it is fixed immediately. I sincerely hope this helps anyone looking to hire an A+ painting CO and they do not get dissuaded by the ramblings of one dissatisfied unrealistic company. By the way in three years NEVER have I found a product thinned out or have i been misled on the amounts of coats applied.

I'll admit to getting suckered into hiring this company. Anthony has used every excuse possible from furnace blowing up to falling and spraining foot to employees calling out sick to court dates to getting arrested. Contract signed 6/10/13 to paint house. Now 8/13/13 still waiting for him to finish. Always asking for more money, never delivering on promises poor work. Last time he showed up he painted the middle of a wall and never did the edges. The primer was tinted the same color so he must have been hoping I wouldn't notice. He Repaired shingles with such poor work they are cracked with gaps and not even tucked under the row above. I finally had enough and told him not to come back. He can Pick up his tools or they will go on curb for garbage man. This did get him to return but that's all he did. Please I know there are always a few sour grapes and thats what thought when reading the Better Business Bureau complaint. I never thought I would fall victim to the same story I've read online. My contract calls for final payment when work is complete. Anthony went as far as trying to get me to pay early and hold a small amount for his punch list. I refused and good thing. I will not pay the balance period. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. You don't want to be adding to this sad story.
