I love to go to the Coffee Hound Bookshop for the excellent, REAL fresh-ground coffee, expresso, and wide variety of frozen drinks- no one has better! I like to browse the nice collection of books, to sit and read for a while, and sometimes chat with local people. I have attended a few Book Club discussions there. The owner knows a lot about authors and always makes excellent recommendations. I can tell her what subject I am interested in, or an author I like and she will make several recommendations. She always asks me what I think of books or authors I have read. She special orders books she doesn't have in stock and I usually get them in a few days. The prices are very reasonable and you can't beat the customer service! The shop is a homey and welcoming place, with a good selection of wonderful paintings, pottery, sculptures, wood carvings, painted gourds, scarves, and bookmarks for sale- always easy to find a gift here! It is located right downtown, in Louisburg, near the courthouse, post office, tax office, etc. which makes it a nice place to stop while out running errands or doing business downtown. There is Wi-Fi and there are a few chairs outside. Sometimes I stop by, find a book, get a coffee drink and a muffin, and then head down to the park to sit by the Tar River at River Bend Park to read for a while. There are two playground areas away from the water, for children. I like to sit down by the water on the sand bar. There are tables scattered around, as well.
