My recommendation is that this company do more to protect its employees. An incident occured earlier this month in Cheddars located in Katy, TX where a customer was making racial slurs and speaking down to the waiter. After apologizing numerous times, the customer kept on ranting and raving about who knows what. I think its because she may have had a lot to drink that night. Nevertheless, the waiter had had enough and decided to walk away from the table and proceeded to go into the kitchen area and began venting about the customer and what she had said to him. This customer got up and left her table to follow this young man to the kitchen. Clearly, this should have been a restricted area for non-employees. Because the customer followed the worker into the kitchen without being stopped or told that she wasn't allowed to do that, she heard the waiter talking about her. The waiter was sent home and subsequently fired for walking away from a caucasian woman to avoid saying things to her to get himself fired. He was told that Cheddars cannot penalize customers, so they penazlized the waiter instead, This young man was fired for walking away from the customer who told him that he was a nobody and the "his kind" wasn't cut out for that type of profession. What does "your kind" implies? Correct, it would be considered racial coming from her to and going to a black young man who was working to help pay for college. While Cheddars is protecting their revenue and customers, what about the protection that should have been given to the work? I will never eat t this place again and I will make sure that I pass the word on to whomever will listen, especially African / Black Americans who are subjected to this type of behavior given by other races.
