Sesdac is an organization that has provided services 24hours a day, 365 days a year to people with intellectual disabilities. The agency's mission focuses on personal-centered support, including physical health, safety, work, and emotional well-being, to stay safe and free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Hence, people become more independent, taking control of their lives, deciding on their own choices to conduct their daily lives, to become part of the vibrant community members. DSP, like myself, is the driving force that makes it possible to ensure the agency's mission goes as smoothly as possible. I have been working as DSP at Sesdac for more than a decade. The job allows me to work and be independent; my work has been primarily relaxing and easy; however, a challenge may exist when working with people with intellectual disabilities, such as dealing with a non-verbal person experiencing anxiety, discomfort, or upsetting. Sesdac highly recognizes my presence and other DSP at people's homes; in return, DSP, who works for Sesdac, gets an attractive salary plus overtime, health insurance package with the dental 401(K), and paid holidays. The agency's leadership has proven to be a highly professional protector and the guardian for both people we support and for us, the DSPs, that provide the driving force that steers the mission forward. The experience and the leadership of Sesdac, giving service to people with disabilities for decades, stand firm in its commitment to people support. The agency's generosity continues to grow and demonstrates maintaining and treating DSPs with the highest value workforce. In July 2020, our wages were increased, followed by three attractive bonuses throughout the year. And again, in 2021, we got three attractive bonuses, followed by an increased salary twice for the year. A person looking for a rewarding job taking care of people with intellectual disabilities, either full-time or part-time, recommended joining us here at Sesdac. Especially students studying to become psychologists, nursing, social services are gratifying to apply for a job at Sesdac. Sesdac is perhaps the only agency in the area that will work with an applicant selected own days for employment. Sesdac does not have fixed hours like other places, such as shift one or two, and so forth, which has set hours and days readily allocated. At Sesdac, employment is very flexible, with days and hours of choice. The applicants soon learn and adapt, the mentality of not shying away from people with disabilities. Instead, empower them to demonstrate their ability and not so much of their disabilities.
