Laurelwood Cemetery Company, celebrating almost 70 years of service, is located in Monroe County in Stroudsburg, Pa. William K. LaBar, the famed nurseryman and founder of LaBarâs Rhododendron Nursery in south Stroudsburg, is credited with chartering Laurelwood Cemetery Company under a non-profit charter in 1934. Labar recognized the need for a modern park-like cemetery in the county, and thus began Laurelwood on the site of an old duck farm on part of the nursery property.
