This property management worked with me for two days to lease his apartment. I was the first consideration for leasing. I shared all information about the fact that I had two pets: a small dog and one cat. I also shared that I have a registered service dog for an ADA disability. He agreed to move forward sending me the application and giving me the number to speak with his tenant. While ill, I spent six hours of working towards fulfilling his requirements and making sure, during this high rate of housing scams, that the listing was valid, he texted me and told me he “changed his mind,” and didn’t want two dogs. According to the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), a landlord can not turn down a tenant because of a registered service dog. And this service dog can not be excluded or treated as a pet. In my opinion, people with disabilities should steer clear of this property manager. He may be walking a very fine line of adhering to the ADA requirements.
