APL Engineered Materials, Inc an Advanced Lighting Technologies company was founded in August 1944 by Dr. Scott Anderson. He established the Anderson Physics Laboratory to perform sponsored experimental research in molecular physics. The lab functioned as a contract research facility for industrial customers.
