Cigna is operated by a bunch of corporate crooks! This company promised coverage and payment of my child's appendectomy. That turned out to be all lies!! My insurance contract with Cigna says plain as day that medical care and coverage for appendectomy is considered medically necessary when criteria are met. Well apparently, Cigna does NOT seem to think that a toddler (my child) screaming and writhing around in uncontrollable pain qualifies as a valid definition of “medically necessary when criteria are met”??? And especially, when she can’t even eat or use the bathroom for almost 2 weeks prior to the surgery because of all the intense build-up of pain??? Nope! Think again, Cigna didn’t seem to think my daughter's appendectomy was "medically necessary." So they just flat out said they are not covering ANY PART of my daughter’s surgical procedure which she needed. Luckily, our pediatrician diagnosed my daughter's condition correctly as probably appendicitis, and we were lucky enough to catch it in time before her appendix could have burst. Our pediatrician was top notch and so was the hospital where my daughter received surgery and care. Yet our insurer, Cigna was anything but great or top notch. They have fought us every step of the way trying to find a number of ways to weasel their way out of covering this procedure for my daughter. Now it looks like we are going to have to sell our home during a short sale and maybe even file for bankruptcy, and all because of Cigna's greed and refusing to do the morally right thing on their own without having to be prompted by lawyers to. Just avoid this terrible, greedy, and inhumane insurance company if your life and your health depends on it, literally. Cigna does not care about their members, the same people who finance their salaries through their overpriced insurance premiums. As long as it doesn’t affect them directly, Cigna could not care less about the heartache and devastation which they cause to their members, due to their own greed. That's how Cigna makes its profits, at the expense of people like you and me, or even vulnerable 2 year old kids like my daughter who they categorically refuse to provide care and coverage for. Our medical bills are almost $90,000 which Cigna is refusing to cover ANY PORTION OF!!!! That's just plain crazy, that an insurance company could act this way? But of course, they don't care one bit. To Cigna, money and corporate profit comes first, the health and well-being of an innocent two year old littler girl, my daughter, is a dead last priority. To them, it just doesn't matter. Cigna's constant "delay, deny, and defend" insurance tactics are among the worst in the industry, trust me I know from personal experience. I've had other insurance before, and none of those other insurance companies have EVER conducted themselves in this fashion. When it comes to dishonesty, immorality, and sleaziness, Cigna really is in a league all its own. No way would I EVER recommend Cigna as an insurance comany to ANYONE, not even my own worst enemy!!
