Just imagine calling an agent to underwrite a life insurance policy and the agent says he can't because there's a "death certificate" filed somewhere saying you already died 32 years ago. You appeal by showing up at his office in person and with doctors' notes proving that you are indeed alive and that the death certificate was obviously mis-labeled, mis-filed or mis-recorded. He continues to refuse you a life insurance policy. Well that's what happened with me trying to get a waiver on title insurance due to an old, repaid mortgage that was clouding the title.
