Lost $500 and 3 months – No work done! On January 7, 2015, I brought in 3 boat cover panels to have the flexible windows replaced. A verbal estimate was given for $800 with $500 due up front. Estimated delivery was 1.5 weeks. I agreed and paid the $500 with my Visa card. Two weeks went by with no word to pick up my job. Successive inquires at about 2 week intervals each resulted in missed promises and additional “next week” promises. Three months passed (now March 12th) and I was running out of time to get the repairs done before boating season. I contacted the business informing them that I needed to pick up my panels and wanted a refund of my deposit as no work had even begun, When I arrived, I picked up my panels piled on the dirty floor and attempted to leave. My exit was physically blocked by the owner at which time he ripped my panels out of my arms and threw them under his desk. He refused to return them to me unless I signed a document stating that I was pleased with the work that had been performed (no work had been performed). I refused to sign so I was asked to leave the premises without my panels and no refund check. I called the Medina Police to intervene on my behalf. Three squad cars / officers took about 45 minutes in the business to retrieve my panels and return them to me, but they were unable to obtain my $500 which I’m sure I’ll never see. I truly appreciate the assistance that I received from the Medina officers – top notch!
