Bryan Young Plumbing Inc. installed/replaced the sump pump in my home for the previous owner in July of 2011. During the rain and snow event of January 2012 I checked the crawl space and found standing water (over 6" plus in the area of the sump pump). I called BYP Inc to have the situation resolved. It was not resolved. After having another local plumber look at the situation I have decided to file this complaint. The plumber cited several deficiencies with the system. They are as follows: absence of an actual sump (sump pump placed near surface of crawl space floor, sump no deeper than 3") , sump not large enough for the pump (the floats movement was restricted by the receptacle which the pump was placed in), and no back flow valve (allowing water if pumped to flow back into crawl space). The pump was placed near the surface of the crawl space and would not engage unless manually manipulated. This caused prolonged standing water in my crawl space that eventually may have been responsible for moisture getting into the duct system. A professional standard was not exhibited and needless to say I was very disappointed in the work done along with the response to this issue by the company.
